Annoyingly some ubiquiti devices use ubiquiti poe15 15v or poe24 24v meaning you have to use their provided poe injector

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

It also makes it impossible to remotely power cycle a device by shutting down the poe port on your managed switch

This device takes standard 48v from your poe switch and drops it to 18v thereby allowing you to use ubiquiti devices not designed for 48v

If ubiquiti had just stuck with 48v standard poe we wouldnt need these well they didnt and so we do

I was new to ubiquiti wireless equipment when i bought a set of wifi hotspots for my church that were to be powered by poe

We currently have a poe infrastructure existing at the church using linksys srw2024p poe switches and i thought i could just plug in the ubiquiti devices and have them work

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

When i tried it i was left scratching my head until some google searches revealed that ubiquiti uses their own 24v poe standard instead of the industry standard for it

Ubiquiti really should just build in poe support and charge another 20
