Note only tighten the cap until it just contacts the rubber then maybe another 14 turn

Dont overtighten it because there is no stop to keep you from damaging the oring i suspect the people with leakers have damaged their oring by overtightening

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

The one minor negativethe oil tank cap cap can be overtightened and as such can damage the oring causing it to leak while stored

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

This is a flaw in the design there should be a mechanical stop in the threads to prevent you from crushing the oring

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

If they changed that one dimension on the drawing the leak issue would be fixed or change the seal from an oring to a paper hard flat washer the red fish paper style or similar that would tolerate the hard tightening
