I cut the ends off the provided fan next i took a usb cable and cut the odd end off leaving the end you plug into the pi or usb port

The only piece i got wrong was the front side with the ethernet and usb ports there is a top and bottom

This meaning if you screw in the fan according to the picture the tip of the screw is making hard contact with the pi board i had to assemble it with the nut outside the case
