    I do yoga healthy eating avoidance meditation cbt all these things were great but they were just mitigating my anxiety not helping to solve it

    Anxiety is extremely difficult to overcome and unless you practise what the book teaches over and over again you will be stuck with your same old problems

    The basic theory in laymans terms is that your struggles with anxiety that is your conscious deliberate effort to think away suppress or otherwise fight your anxious thoughts and feelings are making you feel worse not better

    However i dont feel there is anything wrong with trying to replace negative thoughts and irrational ideas with positive ones cognitive therapy as long as you dont become dependent on that as an avoidance strategy
