The tamron says that the body is of metal construction which basically means the barrel and lens mount are of metal construction whilst the front of the lens is plastic

The lens feels solid enough but i wouldnt particularly want to drop the lens as i would with any lens and it doesnt compare to my zeiss lenses but then again it doesnt cost half as much

The focus ring is made of rubber and is effective though again not of the highest quality

Tested on a d800 by a very fussy amateur photographer who has returned more lenses than has witnessed southwest trains cancel the 6

And thus have had no real desire to own another tamron lens
