Excellent story makes a few leaps that the author asks the reader to accepts but otherwise offers a pretty compelling look at how humanity would handle a disaster of this scale and what actions could take place

The first describes what would happen if the planet knew it was going to be destroyed and certain people would be selected to go to space and survive

There are a few places where the scientific and technical descriptions really do slow the narrative to a crawl but overall the portrayed realism of the details enhance the dilemmas the survivors face
