The sabiki rig is great for catching alewives. Also the initial threading of your line through the pole is a bit of a hassle but not bad.

Cons

The next issue is that the sabiki rig bottom swivel does not fit through the bottom rod guide. Tried to add a photo, but couldn't. What a * design.
