Highlights
Quality
Jury is still out on battery life but so far i am very pleased with these
Easy to connect to smartthings and very responsive
Paired immediately and works fine in the same hole and with the monoprice magnet
This way the metal door will not interfere with the signal
Price
Price was a little higher than door mount but being recessed is worth a little more
60 so not bad given the cost difference between this unit and others
Competitiveness
After months of use battery is still strong and this product has never lost connection or required and fiddling typical of zwave devices
Uses a cr123a battery that is included
Be advised it will ask for a 19mm or 34 drill bit to create the recessed hole in the door

Totally hidden and impossible to tamper with unless the door is open

But you do have to remove the sensor from whatever its mounted in

Instructions state that clearance needs to be between 1 5 mm between the sensor magnet so i had to chisel out a 1 mm recess for the protruding part of the main sensor

The sensor was giving us some false positives saying the door was still open when it was clearly closed

I knew the install was ok and the battery was brand new so decided the error was due to distance between sensor and hub
Posted by a reviewer on Amazon
This sensor is not as easy to instal as the traditional door sensor and it has taken us a bit of effort to get it working reliably

But now that it is unless you were searching for it you would not know it was there

The only downside is that to get them working or replace the battery you have to remove the circuit board from the casing and it feels like your going to break it pulling it out
