Pros & Cons
Pros
X42's are great for looking at poison dart frogs, and other small critters when traveling. The 3d imaging effect is fabulous. As much clarity and low light capability as my leopold 10x40’s.
Any bins will work at noon, it's whether they work at dusk and dawn, in a forest on a cloudy day that is important. They fit my eyes well without glasses with the adjustable eyepieces. The bino lens are top notch and give a bright and super clear view... Read More
No misting on the lens, too. Lack of good tethering for the front caps is a bit of a nuisance, but that can be worked around with a little simple creativity. Repost concerning lens caps.
The prostaff 7s 8x30 is just under one pound, perfect for taking on hikes. Great for birding, bringing in quite a bit of light even at dusk. Easy to focus and hold steady 8 x 30 magnification. Immediately became birders, not intending to do so before ... Read More
Moved myself from 10x to 8x this year and bought seven bicoculars, all at mid price. I have a pair of zeiss 10x40, which are a little bulky to carry around. I wish i would have shopped for a 10 x 50 pair, but these are of very good quality.
Cons
Severe chromatic aberration.
Highlights
Quality
They feel very high quality theyre easy to use and the image quality is great
Im pretty blown away by the quality design sharpness and feel
I suggest if your going to spend good money on quality optics get good lens caps to protect your investment
I have 15x50 russian binoculars and the nikons are more detailed and smooth
Price
These combined with a very good price made them a great purchase
My first pair are the nikon 10x42 prostaff 7s
Packaging/appearance
The only gripe i have is the lens caps on the prostaffs
Among them vortex hd 12x50s zeiss terra hds 10x42 bushnell legend ultra hd m series 8x42 and out of all i always return to the nikons
Competitiveness
Just purchased a pair of nikon 8x30 prostaff binoculars these are crazy sharp
I’ve been using cheap noname binoculars for many years
There was a small peice of debris in one barrel when i got it but did not realize it until out of the amazon return period
I would liken the difference to watching a sporting event on a highend samsung oled tv compared to a 200 walmart noname tv
