The fan turns on proportional to usage and became immediately obvious on day 1 whilst doing the initial upgrade of windows 10

The good news to report is that the fan rarely comes on for me and at times when i’m flicking through photo’s or videos the initial ramp up is minimal such that it can be hardly noticed

With the sp4 i don’t even get that far and most times when i return to the tablet there is zero battery and won’t even turn on

With my old tablet the experience feels like “when it’s off it’s off” – with the sp4 it feels like it’s “always on” and my user behaviour change is to constantly have it on charge as the feeling is as soon as its unplugged a countdown timer is really ticking before it dies

The charger – for most people these days charging a tablet or any mobile device means connecting some sort of usb power adapter

The sp4 does not have a usb power connector

That means when you’re out of juice you’re completely dependent upon having your charger with no alternative means available

The reason for not bringing the charger is because the power pack is a clumsy brick
