Kate and derek were married very young after a childhood betrothal

They dont like one another and as the story opens 5 years into their marriage they have neither consummated their marriage nor have they lived together

I did feel that there were some things missing in this story and a secondary plot element that bordered on irrational

While every good story needs complicating circumstances this plot element just felt very contrived

I understand the temptations and the legitimate sexual drives of both men and women but all to often in life and in fiction people rush into a sexual relationship without having a solid relationship to see them through the tough times of making their relationship work when the sexual passion isnt a part of the equation

I thought that the author represented 2 people who were sexually attracted to one another but who desired to have a solid relationship before beginning their intimately sexual relationship
