    Finally the software app that i have on my pc did recognize this bluray drive as compatible

    As for actually playing bluray discs except for the opening trailers included in the bd that often stutter on playback the main movie played just fine with this drive

    The bdr i used was 6x though there is a discrepancy as to whether its actually 6x or 16x 16x verbatim part number on verbatim label yet the same label and the discs say 6x but both methods i used to write the discs windows 10 built in writer and burnaware free did so at 12x or at least said they did

    Unfortunately it turns what was a 4k friendly drive into a 4k ignorant drive

    Fortunately if you search the drive and go down some rabbit holes you can find a firmware downgrade tool to roll it back to 1
