Like so many others i had trouble getting at commands working but in the end it wasnt an issue as the device worked well in the context of my project without configuration

While i am no stranger to arduino this is my first bluetooth project and it was simple to use clearly marked and my samsung galaxy s5 connects to the hc06 without issue

In open air i have data passed to my phone at around 200ft and can still control my project

Does this respond to at commands and let you change baud rate or checked the range

Worked great this was my first bluetooth project i used mit app inventor to make app on my phone to send serial data to arduino micro to control christmas lights i made with digital addressable leds use this basicly ass wireless serial connection cool
