If you have an older hdmi device as i have this unit eliminates all those annoying dropouts and in some instances the display in blank because it is the wrong hdmi version

The newer hdmi versions are not backward compatible to the older displays

Of course disney corp is in court trying to block the sale of this unit in the us claiming it can remove copy protection

Just like they and mpaa were successful in having import restrictions on true hdmi input dvrs yes they actually exist true hd blueray recording in a set top box
