Pros & Cons

Pros

It's built very well - the locking mechanism goes around the outside - on the kensizer it's inside and the squirrel ripped it off on the first catch! For those wishing to get rid of squirrels and wonder what bait to use, they love walnuts. We get lots...  Read More

This product works exactly as advertised. This trap is fantastic. It works as expected. Just one extra this is big.

I used the advice that many have shared on the reviews. Here are some pictures of my setup.

Cons

The cross-sectional area of the trap is only 50% bigger than the rabbit. It seems that the pivot point on the trap for the arms from the trigger to the door moves. If you are trapping skunks this trap is way to small for all but infant skunks.

The door hangs down and obscures about 25% of the opening as well as protruding out too far. This makes it hard to set. Then i try to reset the trap and now it won't set.

Quality

Overall i am very impressed with the trap simple design no assembly required and it works

We have been able to safely relocate 35 squirrels so far and would not have had such a high success rate without this product

This was a problem since i couldnt effect repairs with the squirrel trying to escape and also quite agitated

With the box over the cage the squirrel quieted down completely and was peaceful until his release

Shipping

As for shipping it delivered to me in 3 days

Competitiveness

We have used a havahart 2 door trap for several years for the ground squirrel that love my garden

I also own the 2 door havahart trap

It’s wellmade but not of any interest to the bunny i wanted to relocate

I tried two older havahart traps trying to catch squirrels that were raiding my bird food

Just put a cracker with peanut butter inside it and a few peanuts leading up to the trap and inside it leading up to the metal piece that activates the mechanism when the squirrel steps on it
