I highly, highly recommend using rechargeable batteries with it. As far as battery powered soldering irons go this and the milwaukee iron are the best. I like that it uses standard size batteries, alkaline or nimh.

It heats up to operating temperature in around 30 seconds and has plenty of stored energy for making multiple solder joints on, for example, 14/16 gauge wire. It heats quickly and got about 40 minutes with eneloop batteries.

Cons
It gets hot enough for a few seconds and than won't melt anything. It goes through 4 alkaline batteries in about 10 or 15 minutes of use. It is battery operated and as such will have limits, but it was not up to the task for me. Can't solder on both.

It wouldnt maintain enough heat for a contactor on refrigerator control board but i have another 120vac model for that

Biggest down side its not that big it do struggle with tinning and soldering larger cables then again it was intended for electronics

Make sure you use nimh batteries only for optimum performance temperature control and duration
