Pros & Cons

Pros

Gls audio's es-57 is a $30 mic fashioned after shure’s industry-standard sm57. It has a little more volume than the sm57 and is perhaps a tad too hyped in the mid-range, giving it lots of presence but a slightly unnatural megaphone-like color. The mid...  Read More

It is solidly constructed and seems very reliable. I was impressed by their clarity and warmth. Thanks gls for the craftmanship put into this stage mic.

Imo, the gls es-57 goes toe-to-toe with any mic i ever heard in the $100-$150 range - and blows them all away in terms of value. Comparable brand name microphones cost close to $100 so this is a excellent value.

Everything coming thru this mic sounds wonderful right off the bat. This microphone is perfect for it's intentions. This mic is simply awesome.

Cons

A 50/50 chance that this mic will not operate is unacceptable. Go ahead and spend the extra couple of dozen bucks for a shure sm-57.

Shipping

I have also bought many of their other products and havent been disappointed with quality price or shipping

Competitiveness

Sounds great and at half the price of their competitors

It was soooo much less painful buying two of these mics for less than half the price of a sm57

Theres a certain strain of internet discourse that inspires people to engage in rhetorical competition like every musician you ...  Read More

I can compare with other brand like shure with much higher price

The gls picked up more subsonic rumble maybe something happening outside this would just get highpassed out in any real situation

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

I certainly wouldnt say the gls is worse just a little different and a gentle high boost would practically zero out the differences

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

It actually seems a little warmer in the midrange but i cant really decide which one is best

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

I was looking to getting back into recording but didnt want to spend too much

Theres a certain strain of internet discourse that inspires people to engage in rhetorical competition like every musician you run into on public threads on facebook is the expert on all things and will prove it by making claims of ownership experience without regard to truth since you can never go wrong if you take the most extreme position

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

So to sum up there are people on here telling you this mic doesnt measure up to the shure sm57 because theyre experts and theyve owned everything and they know

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

And they dont and most of them are full of crap anyway

Posted by a reviewer on Amazon

This thing sounds great it may even be a better mic
