I am incredibly pleased with the purchase and absolutely recommend the product
Even with the 100 watt bulb it dos not give off enough light for that
I purchased one of those led flame effect light bulbs for it and it looks beautiful especially with the color of the glass

The glass is opaque not clear and the shade is not open at the bottom so no direct light escapes
