Pros

The battery is easy to replace if you have a modicum of patience! It feels a little flimsy (4 stars) it is much better than devices other people use at such events. The only detractor is that it turns on too easy.

Light has red led’s for good illumination, thumbwheel switch for easy light control. Clear lens gives you 2 concentric ring patterns (which can be handy for highlighting charts or other objects) use scotch tape to cover the lens.

This light is probably the best astro light available. If you are a serious astronomer or just a backyard stargazer, a red lense flashlight is a serious need.

The 3 levels of brightness is perfect, easy to adjust. The brightness adjustment is a knob that isn't very touchy. You roll the dimmer which turns on to the lowest brightness and you roll up from there.

Great value for the money. This thing is fantastic. This is my second, so i can loan it without being without. It's absolutely perfect.



Cons

The uneven light makes it very difficult to read. Thumbwheel adjust light very erratically. Entirely too dim at the brightest setting.

The light is more orange than red, thus protects night adaptation less. It did have a dimmer switch, on the negative side, it is only a 2 led bulb flashlight.

The variability of the width of 9 volt cells makes this either very difficult with a slim 9 volt battery to impossible with thicker ones. There are 4 raised ribs in the lower section of the housing which crates an interference fit holding the battery ...  Read More

    The sk68s are not dimmable and are far too bright to keep my eyes dark adapted
