I was able to stand it up on a table and chair and i used the volume control on my headphones to take photos so that you dont have to touch the phone itself which would risk shaking the camera

My only gripes with it are that the part that holds the phone itself cant open up widely enough to hold it upright for portrait view

Instead you have to adjust the legs of the device and tilt the holder over until the phone is vertical
