The aeropress is a minimalist appliance for making good coffee. The inventor explains how to use it to the best of its ability, as well as dispelling many, many myths.
Cons
The old one is a harder more transparent plastic and has lasted years with daily use. For a product's lifespan to be less than 2 months (less than half the free filters used) is unacceptable. The drawback is that this is a slower method.
Sometimes the filter and grounds release into the compost collection pot uniformly, sometimes a bunch sticks to the depresser and fall into the sink. It wasn't the plastic as i'm sure it's all bpa; it's that i would never use 1/2 of them and couldn't ... Read More
The french press makes better coffee and just is not as tricky to use and clean. Cannot get multiple pressings as advertised. No body.

The problem with the paper filter is that it tends to slip occasionally allowing the grinds to go through
I opted to pass over the aeropress go and went with the original as it was more versatile

If you are making it it needs to have enough coffee for 2 cups otherwise the water filters out before you plunge it
