On my technics sl1200 someone had changed the matt and i had to buy this because as you know the needle will dig into the records at an improper angle and ruin the records if it is not prefectly flat this brought the record up to the desired height to avoid that problem

The thickness is great to me because another mat i have50 musichallmat is to thin and i cant set the tonearm height correctly

The problem is with no mat the ortofon cart doesnt allow clearance of the tone arm above the cuing mechanism

The resolved the first issue and for the most part cured the sibilance but certain records still exhibited sibilance on some tracks
